How to compare processors online
Choose two processors in the form above: the site displays a specification table, highlights the best value in each row, and briefly describes how the processors differ. The comparison covers desktop, mobile and server processors.
The data comes from manufacturer specifications: cores and threads, clocks, cache, TDP, process node, supported memory, socket and integrated graphics. These are not performance benchmarks, so for a specific workload compare the specs with benchmark results in the programs and games you use.
What to look at when comparing processors
- Cores and threads affect multitasking and software that can load several cores at once: rendering, archiving, video editing.
- Base and boost clock matter for software that depends on single-core speed, such as many games. Boost clock is not always sustained and depends on cooling and load.
- L3 cache is fast memory inside the processor: the more of it, the less often the CPU has to wait for RAM.
- TDP is the rated thermal output, a guideline for choosing a cooler. It is not the exact power draw under load.
- Process node: a finer node (fewer nanometers) usually means better efficiency, but numbers from different manufacturers cannot be compared directly.
- Socket and memory define motherboard compatibility and RAM type (DDR4, DDR5).
- Integrated graphics is needed if you do not plan to install a discrete graphics card.
FAQ
What matters more when choosing a processor: cores or clock speed?
It depends on the workload. Rendering, editing and multitasking benefit from more cores and threads, many games from fast individual cores and large cache. There is no universal answer, so compare the parameters that matter to you.
What is processor TDP?
TDP is the rated thermal output used as a guideline for choosing cooling. Real power draw under load can be higher or lower.
Where does the data come from?
From public sources and manufacturer specifications. It may contain inaccuracies, so verify important parameters on the manufacturer website.
